Even amidst the biting cold winds of winter, Colonel’s Foundation and the NGO UPSAM (Unity for Peace Building and Socio-Economic Advancement for the Marginalized) brought smiles to people’s faces. They organized a winter clothing distribution and a day-long free medical camp to stand beside the cold-affected people in the char (river island) areas of Sariakandi and Sonatala upazilas in Bogura.
This humanitarian initiative took place on January 4, 2025 (Saturday) at the Jamthal Azgar Ali Education Complex grounds and on January 5 (Sunday) at Sonakania Government Primary School. Warmth in the form of blankets was distributed to nearly one thousand people from the erosion-hit Kazla-Jamthal and Jorgacha unions along the Jamuna River. In addition, over a hundred people received free medical treatment.
Behind this humanitarian mission lies a greater dream—to organize one hundred free medical camps in the Jamuna char region and to establish a permanent free clinic in the Kalitala embankment area. Working tirelessly to make this dream a reality are Colonel (Retd.) Md. Jaglul Ahsan, SUP, PSC (G), and Professor Dr. Md. Zahirul Islam Liton.

This initiative was not just about distributing winter clothes or medicine—it was a bond, a touch of love, that has ignited a light of hope in the hearts of marginalized people.
